My art allows me to really dig into those emotions we tend to push aside. It's personal, it's real, and it’s all about connection
Lindsey Tennant is a multidisciplinary fine artist based in Atlanta, Georgia, working primarily in painting while also incorporating drawing, printmaking, and other traditional media. Her work is shaped by a bi-cultural upbringing between Buford, Georgia, and San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua—a perspective that informs the emotional and psychological depth of her visual language.
Tennant earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing from the University of North Georgia, but her development as an artist extends well beyond academic training. A dedicated and self-motivated practitioner, she has spent years cultivating her technical skill and conceptual voice through independent study, experimentation, and an ongoing commitment to critical engagement with her work. This combination of formal education and self-directed growth has produced a studio practice that is both intellectually rigorous and deeply personal.
At the core of her practice is a commitment to the figure. Through evocative, emotionally charged compositions, she explores themes of vulnerability, internal conflict, and human connection—often illuminating the subtleties of what we repress, conceal, or struggle to articulate.
While known for her introspective, psychological approach, Tennant’s range extends beyond emotionally driven work. Her technical skill and adaptability allow her to take on a broad spectrum of subjects—from observational studies to conceptual series and commissioned pieces—while maintaining a high level of craft and intention. She approaches each project with the same critical eye and formal discipline, bringing clarity and presence to whatever subject matter she engages.
Tennant is an active presence in Atlanta’s contemporary art scene and is steadily cultivating relationships across the national and international art community. Her work speaks to curators and collectors drawn to introspective, psychologically driven figurative painting—with the added value of an artist capable of executing a diverse and sophisticated body of work.
I create with my hands and my heart—each piece a labor of love, exploring the messy, beautiful truths of being human
